WHOLE GUIDE

Help choosing the right size

Choosing the right size is important for the fit, comfort, and longevity of the garment.

A garment that fits too tightly will quickly become unusable as the child grows and may feel uncomfortable, but a size that is too large hangs unpleasantly and can at worst get caught on something while the child is playing. Additionally, a garment that is too large wears out faster than a well-fitting garment.

On this page, we provide more detailed guidance on choosing the right size.

GUGGUU

Main measurement points

Depending on the clothing, different points are examined - when choosing overalls, the neck-crotch measurement is very important, and when choosing pants, the leg is the focus. These points should be checked when trying on the garment to ensure that the size of the clothing is correct now and preferably also a little later as the child grows.

General instructions for size selection

Gugguu clothes are sized to fit and so that the legs and sleeves are long, allowing them to be turned up to extend their lifespan. Additionally, the jersey pants and many other bottoms have a drawstring to tighten a waist that is too large.

Usually, the size should be chosen according to the child's height. If the child is between two sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size. Each product has a separate expandable "SIZE" section, which you can click to get more information about the sizing of that product.

Shirts and tops

Gugguu tops are usually fitted and the sleeves are rather long.

When choosing the right size for a shirt, three points are especially considered: sleeve length, hem length, and shoulder line fit. In Gugguu products, the sleeves are quite long because we want the clothes to fit the child longer – meaning rolling up the sleeves shorter is easy. You can check the sleeve length by asking the child to raise their arms. If the sleeve covers the wrist, the sleeve length is suitable. At the same time, check the hem – does the belly button show when raising the arms, or does it stay hidden? If the belly button is not visible, the hem length is appropriate. Also look at the shoulder line – does it pinch or does the garment fit nicely?

Pants and bottoms

Gugguu bottoms often have long legs. In leggings and tights, there is an adjustable waistband, and in sweatpants and shorts, there are drawstrings.

Generally, the legs should reach just below the ankle, but if the pants fit well otherwise but are too long, the legs are easy to roll up.

Dresses

Our selection includes both short- and long-sleeved dresses. In long-sleeved dresses, the sleeves are on the longer side, making them easy to roll up.

The length of the hem depends on the dress. Usually, the hem length of the dress is slightly above the knee, but this depends a lot on the child's height.

Overalls and jackets

Gugguu's outerwear sizing is generous.

We generally recommend choosing the size based on the child's height, but especially when selecting outerwear for a small child, it's better to choose the larger size for a child between two sizes. This way, one outer garment will last the entire long winter.

When trying on a jacket, ask the child to raise their arms. If the sleeve covers the wrist, the sleeve length is appropriate.

When choosing outer overalls, the leg should extend over the shoe, not to the ground, and the neck-crotch seam should not pinch. Also ensure that layers can fit underneath if needed and that the outer garment is not too tight, so it is comfortable to wear.

When trying on, it's good to test if you can grab about a fistful of the jacket or overalls from the back - if you can and the sleeves and legs have been checked, the garment fits.
