Features of mid-season jackets and overalls

Water protection

Gugguu outerwear is highly water-resistant. They have a high water column ≥ 20,000 mm, which means the outerwear withstands continuous heavy rain. Seam taping found on the overalls further enhances waterproofness.

All Gugguu outerwear, including mid-season and winter clothes, feature the eco-friendly Bionic-Finish® Eco finish developed in Germany. Unlike traditional finishing methods, the Bionic-Finish® Eco finish is achieved without perfluorinated compounds and formaldehyde. The protective property is based on the material's density. Quality and functionality are not compromised; the finish is just as breathable and comfortable to wear as more traditional alternatives. To maintain this property, heat activation is recommended approximately every 6 washes, for example, in a tumble dryer or by ironing at low heat.

Wind protection and breathability

The outer fabric of jackets and overalls is also a more ecological option without compromising on features. The material's membrane is made from 100% recyclable material and protects effectively against wind while still breathing optimally (<12 (m2Pa/W). This material also considers environmentally harmful substances: it contains no PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) or PFC (perfluorinated compounds). Additionally, the membrane has the Öko-Tex Standard 100 certificate (class 1) and the fabric manufacturer is certified BLUESIGN® system partner. The fabric also withstands abrasion well, making it perfect for play.

Comfort

In children's clothing, it is crucial that the clothes stay on easily and feel comfortable on the child's skin. For this reason, we have wanted to create options for different needs: each outerwear model differs from the others by small but meaningful features so that every child can find the right option. Below you will find more detailed information about each model.

All outerwear has a detachable hood that can be conveniently attached with snaps. The hood is also carefully shaped to be the right size and provide additional protection if needed.

Safety

The text above covered the safety of materials. In addition to material safety, children's safety in the dark has been taken into account. 

Especially in the Nordic countries, mid-season outerwear is used during the polar night, and using a reflector is absolutely important. We send a separate attachable reflector with the outerwear. We always recommend adding a reflector to outerwear, and in addition, the outerwear has reflective fabric sewn in.

Choosing the right size

Gugguu outerwear sizing is slightly generous.

We generally recommend choosing the size based on the child's height, but especially when selecting outerwear for a small child, it is advisable to choose the larger size for a child between two sizes. This way, one outer garment will last for the current season and possibly the next one as well.

When trying on a jacket, ask the child to raise their arms. If the sleeve covers the wrist, the sleeve length is appropriate.

When choosing an outdoor overall, the leg should reach over the shoe, not the ground, and the neck-crotch line should not be tight. Also ensure that there is room for layers underneath if needed and that the outer garment is not too tight, so it is comfortable to wear.

When trying on, test if you can grab about a fistful of the jacket or overall from the back - if you can and the sleeves and legs have been checked, the garment fits.

Flash Coverall mid-season coverall

The baby mid-season coverall Flash Coverall is a mid-season coverall intended for babies sized 62-74, with soft cuffs on the sleeves and legs. The coverall has no taping. The coverall's pockets close with snaps.

East Coverall mid-season coverall

The toddler and children's mid-season coverall East Coverall is a bit more technical than the Flash Coverall intended for babies. The coverall is available in sizes 80-110. Its seams are taped and the sleeves and legs have elastic cuffs. Additionally, the legs have elastic loops for the feet. The pockets close with snaps.

Flash Midseason Parka mid-season jacket

The toddler and children's mid-season jacket Flash Midseason Parka is available in sizes 80-152. The sleeves have soft cuffs. The pockets are snap-closed. The jacket's seams are not taped. 

Print Midseason Parka jacket

The patterned children's mid-season jacket Print Midseason Parka is available in sizes 80-152. The jacket's seams are not taped. Sizes 80-104 have snap-closed pockets and sizes 110-152 have zipper-closed pockets. The sleeves have elastic cuffs.

Print Coverall coverall

The children's patterned mid-season coverall Print Coverall is available in sizes 80-110. The seams of the coverall are taped. The coverall has no pockets. The sleeves and legs have elastic cuffs. The legs have elastic loops for the feet.
