Children's UV swimsuit - the most important piece of clothing for summer
Summer is here, and we have already started enjoying warm days - the bravest have taken a dip in natural waters, and inflatable pools for children have appeared in backyards. So it's time to dig out the swimsuits!
Although the sun warms the body and mind and gives energy to the days, it is also important to protect yourself from it. Although there are differences between adults' and children's skin, both should still be properly protected from the rays. Children's skin is especially vulnerable - the skin has not yet developed its protective mechanisms fully, and exposure to UV radiation never leaves the skin but accumulates year after year, meaning sunburns in youth negatively affect the skin even years later. Protection should also be remembered on cooler days, as the sun damages the skin just as much on cooler days. So, heat is not needed for the skin to be damaged.
Skin can be protected in many ways, and some methods are more effective than others. UV radiation is strongest around midday, and at that time it's best to stay indoors or in shaded areas – keeping in mind that skin can also be damaged in the shade. An easy protection for children is clothing, especially loose garments that protect the skin well. Materials with a high cotton content are a good choice as they breathe. The head should always be covered with a wide-brimmed hat or at least a cap. At the beach, the best protection is a swimsuit with sun protection.
At the beach or during other water play, a lot of time is spent under the sun, often with lighter clothing. In these cases, sunscreen is used. For babies, clothes, shade, and avoiding the sun are the best protection. When choosing the best sunscreen for a child, it's advisable to select options made for children with the highest possible protection factor and ensure the lotion provides both UVA and UVB protection. The lotion should be applied about 30 minutes before going outside to allow it to take effect, and the amount should not be skimped on – depending on the child's size, 20-30 ml is enough for the whole body. Also remember to reapply every couple of hours, as the lotion's effectiveness diminishes over time and often doesn't stay on the skin due to sweating and swimming.
That's why it's worth packing a UV-protective swimsuit with long sleeves that offers as broad protection as possible in your beach bag.
Gugguu's all swimsuits are made from fabric with SPF 50. The fabric's sun protection is based on its density – it is not chemically treated with protective substances. In spring 2020, two new swimsuit models were added to the collection, both available in solid colors and prints: the UV Swimsuit and the UV Swimsuit Dress. These outfits consider sun protection with long sleeves and a design that covers the back and stomach. The UV Swimsuit also features legs that extend approximately to the knees.
So why choose a UV-protective swimsuit when using sunscreen? Many have probably noticed that children don't exactly love sunscreen. Using a UV-protective swimsuit reduces the areas that need lotion, making it simply an easier option. Additionally, you don't have to worry about reapplying lotion on these areas, and the swimsuit's protection isn't affected by sweating or swimming. Swimsuits often cover the areas that burn easily: shoulders, back, and stomach tend to burn first.
