Responsibility Report 2019

Gugguu's year 2020 began, in addition to the release of new collections, with the publication of the 2019 responsibility review. Responsibility has been an important part of Gugguu's operations from the start, and now we get to share information with our customers through the report! You can read the full report here and this blog post goes through the main points of the report.
YEAR 2019

Bringing information to light was one of our main goals - Gugguu's operations have always been based on responsible values, but there was room for improvement in highlighting responsibility. We have therefore added plenty of new information about our materials, values, and other responsibility-related matters to our website. Information has been presented on the pages Responsibility, Gugguu values and About us. Information has also been presented on social media, such as Facebook and Instagram. The responsibility report is the most detailed information package on the topic and the report has been published on our website and on social media.
VALUES
Gugguu has four core values. Our operations are based on these values and they are taken into account in all company activities.
Quality
Products are tested at all stages of production, from fabric wash tests to size testing and improvement of finished garments. Testing ensures that the clothes are durable, practical, and well-fitting - and of course comfortable to wear. Quality also ensures the durability of the clothes and thus recycling: we encourage our customers to use our products from child to child and to recycle our clothes, for example, at flea markets. In 2019, we started a collaboration with the online flea market Emmy Secondhand, through which customers have the opportunity to easily recycle outgrown Gugguu clothes.
Ecology
We strive to use as many ecological materials as possible, and products are manufactured nearby, in Finland and the Baltics, to make shipping as environmentally friendly as possible. We utilize cutting waste and fabric leftovers by creating new collections, such as the Halloween 2019 collection. We also often donate surpluses to schools and kindergartens, where materials are used for crafts. We continuously aim to develop our materials towards the most ecological and ethical direction. An example of this is the slowwear outfits launched with the Mini Me collection in autumn 2019, made from recycled materials. Read more about slowwear fabric here.
Customer orientation
We are constantly in contact with our customers through social media, customer service, customer events, and physical stores. Customer feedback is taken into account, for example, in product development and new releases, as well as in the development of the online store. We strive to respond to messages quickly and to dispatch packages as fast as possible.
Safety
The safety of children and our products is of utmost importance to us. This is reflected, for example, in our preference for the Oeko-Tex 100 standard and GOTS certificate in our fabrics.

Various certificates ensure the safety and ecology of materials. This guarantees that a third party has thoroughly reviewed the operations of our partners, allowing us to trust the information about their properties and safety. The most important certificates in our products are OEKO-TEX 100, GOTS, Bluesign, and Global Recycled Standard.
FUTURE
Part of creating the responsibility report was to establish clear goals through which we develop our operations towards greater responsibility. We created eight main goals and the steps by which we move towards the goal year by year. The steps for 2019 have been successfully implemented.

The responsibility report contains more detailed information related to responsibility, such as ethics, ecology, and their impacts throughout our entire value chain, from material choices to employees and locations. You can read the full report here.
